New monster: The Shell Thrower

  • The shell thrower is protected by a tough shell making it impossible to damage.
  • It will slowly wander around until you or your weapon enter it's sight range.
  • At this point, it will quickly hurl it's spiky shell towards you.
  • Dodge this attack and it'll be vulnerable while it reels it's shell in.
  • If it survives, it will take a short break before wandering again.
  • The Thrower is worth 4 Hoppers. This means that during a wave spawn, any group of 4 Hoppers has a 50% chance to be a Thrower instead.
  • Frenzy will make the Thrower reel it's shell in faster and take shorter breaks afterward.
  • Intelligence will increase it's accuracy but also it's range.
  • (The Thrower has better starting accuracy than the Hopper.)

New world element: The spike ball

  • Small and dangerous objects that are created at the beginning of the game. Avoid them or throw them around if you dare.

New feature: Orientation-dependent damage

  • Some objects can now have a different value if they hit something head on, sideway or backward. The damage will gradually change between these points.
  • Hoppers will now deal full damage in front of them and none on their side and back. This will make them drastically less dangerous and prevent you from accidentally taking damage when trying to attack them from behind.
  • The player's weapon will now deal full damage in front and to the side but none on it's back. This won't change much for the gameplay but will save some lucky hoppers hitting the back of your weapon.

And some more details

  • A first player will now automatically spawn at the beginning of the game.
  • The minimum speed to turn an object is now 0.25 (from 0.5). I reduced this threshold since the orientation is now important for some objects' damage. It will also make them look less like they are sliding at slow speeds.
  • Updated the Hopper's sprite to show that it only deals damage in front.
  • Created a wall sprite. Not my best work but it can't be much worse that the rest of the game.
  • Made it a little easier to see through trees.
  • Some perk texts have been updated to better represent what they do for both monsters.
  • Fixed a bug where removing a player in the lobby would only turn in invisible.
